Admission Requirement for IGCSE holders

• • IGCSE Applicants are invited to apply online soon with the available results and then send an update of their high school certificates by email to admission@zewailcity.edu.eg immediately after the official release of the final results, with quoting their application ID number. The final high school official results are the main factor in the acceptance final decision by the university. Failure to send the scanned copies of the final official result will cause a cancellation of the application.
  • Foreign certificates holders have to submit a proof of the whole 12 years of schooling or three years of secondary school after the Egyptian preparatory school certificate (إعدادية) or six years of preparatory and secondary school after the Egyptian primary school certificate (ابتدائية).
  • IGCSE Applicants will be required to apply online starting from 6th of November 2019 till 31st of May 2020 with the available results and then send an update of their high school certificates by email to admission@zewailcity.edu.eg immediately after the official release of the final results.
  • The final high school official results are the main factor in the acceptance decision by the university.
  • Failure to send the final official result before the announced deadline will cause a cancellation of the application.
  • Students must submit 8 different IGCSE O-level (OL) and Advanced Supplementary-level (ASL) or A-level (AL) subjects including chemistry or physics or math or biology, in addition to one A-level (AL) subject or two Advanced Supplementary-level (ASL) subjects (math, chemistry, physics or biology).
  • Students must pass the Arabic and religion exams of Thanaweya Amma before or after the final acceptance in the university. IGCSE OL subjects should be from the extended system, not the core system.
  • Up to five settings are considered acceptable (taken over no more than three successive years).
  • The University of Science and Technology accepts for the application, a minimum grade of C in O-level or AS-level and a minimum grade of D in A-level subjects (math or chemistry or physics or biology) 8 different IGCSE / GCSE O-level (OL) or Advanced Supplementary-level (ASL) or A-level (AL) subjects. Repeated subjects will not be double counted.
  • The best grade obtained in a repeated subject will be the only one considered. Below is a table explaining the equivalent percentages of the British grades:

Application procedures and student evaluation steps

• Initial screening:Candidates applying to the University of Science and Technology must read the admission’s criteria quite well to determine their eligibility to apply to the university.This step ensures that the applicant meets the basic requirements set forth by the university’s admission’s office to proceed further into the application process. The process requires input from students regarding their type of high school degree, scores in specific subjects, the current overall grade/score, science and math subjects’ scores, graduation year, major and related information.  For Any Inquiry, Please send an email to admission@zewailcity.edu.eg.

To facilitate the application, applicants must provide evidence of English proficiency in one of the standardized English language exams, if available, or the University of Science and Technology administrators will provide an English Proficiency Test (EPT) for students with no proof of English proficiency

Students’ acceptance is based on an overall assessment of the high school scores, admission exam’s scores, English scores and passing the Interview.

•Accepted candidates who fulfill the university’s English proficiency requirement by submitting recent TOEFL test scores (valid for two years only after the test date) with a minimum band score of 94, a minimum writing score of 27 and a minimum speaking score of 23 or IELTS test scores with a minimum band score, writing and speaking score of 7, or passing Zewail City English Proficiency Test will be fully admitted to the university.

Accepted candidates who submit recent English test scores TOEFL or IELTS (valid for two years after the test date) below the minimum required will be exempted from the EPT (English Proficiency Test) if they fulfill one of the following criteria:

– TOEFL (IBT) score of 60-93 and writing 24 – 26 or 35 – 59 and writing 21 are entitled to an intensive English program prior to or during the beginning of the first semester based on the University academic schedule.

– IELTS with scores 6 – 6.5 and writing 6.5 or 5 – 5.5 ad writing 6 are entitled to an intensive English program prior to or during the beginning of the first semester based on the University academic schedule.

– Students satisfying all admissions criteria, but scoring one level below the required level in the EPT, will be entitled to attend an intensive English program prior to or during the beginning of the first semester based on the university’s academic schedule.

Applicants who submit recent TOEFL test scores with a band score below 35, a writing score below 21 and a speaking score below 23 or IELTS test scores with a band, writing and speaking score below five, or who do not pass Zewail City’s English Proficiency Test will not be admitted.

Documents that must be submitted upon acceptance:

1- Original birth certificate.

2- Four passport–sized photos with white background.

3- Two copies of national ID for Egyptian students.

4- Military form نموذج ٢ for all male students and 6 gond for students with birth dates before 2000 (Egyptian males only).

5- Copy of passport for non-Egyptians.

6- Medical certificate and HIV certificate for foreigners.

7- High school certificate.

8- High school certificate holders from outside Egypt must provide a copy of their residence proof. The proof must be authenticated by the Egyptian Cultural Counsellor or the Egyptian Embassy. An alternative would be presenting a passport indicating the entry and exit dates during the study period or presenting an entry/exit travel record.

9- An Original document of Arabic Language and Religion exams Thanaweya Amma level for foreign certificates’ holders, if available.

10- Original TOEFL-IBT or IELTS-academic if applicable

11- The non-refundable down payment of the study cost

High school certificate document requirements:

IGCSE/GCSE

• Original statement of results or original certificates stamped by the British Council, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and الإدارة العامة للامتحانات (Ministry of Education).
• IGSCE-Slips stamped by the British Council as copies of true documents will not be treated as originals and cannot be accepted.
• If IGCSE Slips are obtained from outside Egypt, required stamp of British Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Egyptian Embassy in country of certificate(s)
• Preparatory Certificate (اعدادية) or Primary Certificate (ابتدائية or proof of 12 years of schooling stamped by school and certified by the Educational Zone which the school belongs to.
• If the proof of 12 years of schooling is obtained from outside Egypt required stamps are: the school stamp, the stamp of the Educational Zone and the Egyptian embassy in that foreign country.
• Original document of Arabic Language, Religion and civics exams Thanaweya Amma (for Arab Nationals)
• All documents issued from schools inside Egypt Must be stamped from Educational Zone – Ministry of Education
